Bullying is an horrendous abuse issue in our societies. It is insidious, ongoing, and is quietly condoned by many individuals. The lack of action ensures that it thrives on denial, misinformation, myth and, most importantly, the silencing of those who try to speak out. Bullying has far reaching consequences for many individuals and impacts on the lives in all spheres of our society.
Code of Silence traces the effects on, and actions of, a thirteen year old boy as he searches for solutions to free himself from malicious bullying. A must read for parents and for eleven to thirteen year olds - the most vulnerable group for bullying.
Maureen Eleanor Green is experienced in creating resources for children aged five to thirteen. As the author of three level guides, first readers, captioned sequence readers and power-point presentations she promotes literacy in her own school. At a New Zealand national level, she has been engaged in curriculum writing and research focused on enhancing performance in reading and written language.
